Special Education Evaluation Delays: Joint Action in Nye County
Voices for All Abilities (VFAB) and the Pahrump Disability Outreach Program (PDOP) are fighting back against district evaluation waitlists.
If your child was referred for a special education evaluation in Nye County and you have been told the district is “working down a list,” or if your request has gone months without a formal written notice, you are not alone.
VFAB and PDOP are submitting a formal Joint Systemic State Complaint to the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) to mandate immediate outside evaluator contracting and compensatory education.
What this action does
- Documents the scope of evaluation delays and missing written notices across Nye County families.
- Requests that NDE require the district to contract outside evaluators immediately so assessments are completed within legal timelines.
- Seeks compensatory education for students harmed by delays, so kids do not lose ground while waiting for services.
- Keeps families informed and connected throughout the complaint process.
How to add your child
Signing the authorization lets VFAB and PDOP include your child’s case in the Joint Systemic State Complaint. It is secure, confidential, and handled by our partners at AdvocateIEP.com.
